Dear Blue Buffalo Pet Parents,

You may have recently heard the story of Scout, his pet parent David MacNeil, CEO of WeatherTech, and his effort to raise money for the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. The folks at Blue Buffalo are so excited to see WeatherTech join the fight against pet cancer, which is the leading cause of death in dogs and cats.

Pet cancer awareness is an issue that’s been near and dear to both our family and the founding mission of our company since the very beginning. Our beloved Airedale Blue’s struggle with cancer was the inspiration for Blue Buffalo’s creation back in 2002.

I’d also like to take a moment to applaud Petco and the Petco Foundation for their recent gift of $250,000 to the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, one of the many dedicated organizations working to help pets in need of care and treatment.

For over a decade, Blue Buffalo, Petco and the Petco Foundation have enjoyed a wonderful partnership with a shared commitment to fighting pet cancer. During that time, we’ve raised over 10 million dollars to help fund research that we hope one day will provide a cure for this devastating disease.

We know how passionate our pet parent community is about the health of their pets, and the more people and organizations who get behind this cause, the closer we’ll get to finding a cure.

So, we are happy to spread the word about the efforts both WeatherTech and Petco are making in the fight against pet cancer. Any pet parent who’d like to donate directly to the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Veterinary Medicine can do so at
