At BLUE, care and dedication go into not just our pet foods, but the bags that carry them. The paper we use is now certified by the The Sustainable Forestry Initiative© (SFI). And, we’ve eliminated the aluminum lining.
SFI is one of the world’s largest forest certification programs. It is supported by prominent conservation groups and is internationally recognized and accepted. It was developed by professional foresters, conservationists, and scientists committed to improving the practice of forestry on all forestlands in North America.
SFI addresses key environmental, social and economic forest values, including:
- Water Quality
- Wildlife Habitat
- Species at Risk
In addition to protecting vulnerable species and habitats, SFI believes that healthy, productive forests yield immense environmental, social and economic benefits. They mitigate the impacts of climate change by absorbing and storing carbon in trees, soil and biomass.
When you buy products with the SFI label, you know you’re buying products from responsible sources. At a time when only 10 percent of the world’s forests are certified, this is an important and significant way to help protect our planet.
Another way BLUE is helping the environment is by eliminating aluminum from our packages. This reduces greenhouse gases emitted by aluminum manufacturing.
Our new bags will keep BLUE just as fresh as ever, and can help make a positive impact on the earth’s well-being.
