Bow Wow Bars Recipe

The scoop on making dog-friendly “ice cream” treats

This recipe uses plain yogurt — a natural probiotic — and fresh fruit (instead of refined sugar) to keep it healthy. You’ll want to use natural peanut butter that doesn’t contain the artificial sweetener xylitol, which can harm our furry family members. We’ll wrap up this recipe by sprinkling in crumbled BLUE Health Bars™, which are packed with Omega 3 Fatty Acids and antioxidants.

Note: This recipe is not recommended for dogs who are lactose-intolerant or have sensitivities to any of the ingredients listed, like peanut butter or fruit. Please contact your veterinarian with any concerns and to make sure these ingredients are right for your dog.

RECIPE for BLUE BowWow Bars

BLUE BowWow Bars are a healthy way to cool off your dog on a hot day. This easy, refreshing recipe makes 12 servings, so you can keep some in your freezer for later.

Here’s How to Whip Up This Frosty “Ice Cream” Treat for Dogs:

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of natural plain yogurt
  • 2 bananas (fresh or frozen), chopped (should make ½ cup)
  • ½ cup of mashed or puréed strawberries
  • ½ cup of blueberries
  • ½ cup of natural (xylitol-free) peanut butter
  • ¼ cup of crumbled BLUE Health Bars, plus 12 bars for toppers

Directions:

1. Line a 12-cup muffin pan with sturdy cupcake liners, preferably silicone cups.

2. Swirl mashed strawberries into yogurt.

3. Add in blueberries and bananas.

4. Warm peanut butter in microwave or on stove and pour into yogurt.

5. Mix finely crumbled BLUE Health Bars into yogurt.

6. Spoon mixture into muffin liners, and top each one with a Health Bar.

7. Freeze overnight.

Your BLUE BowWow Bars are ready! Pop the frozen bars out of their silicone cups (or remove paper liners) and reward your pup with a frosty new treat. Serve with some cool water for a truly refreshing experience.
